- Account Opening & Operations
- Eligibility
Account opening at Hindusthan Bank is subject to the eligibility criteria prescribed by the Bank and the Reserve Bank of India from time to time. The Bank reserves the right to accept or decline any account opening application at its sole discretion, without being required to provide reasons for such a decision.
- KYC Compliance
All account holders are required to complete the Know Your Customer (KYC) process as mandated by the RBI and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The Bank reserves the right to freeze, restrict, or close any account that fails to comply with KYC requirements within the stipulated timeframe.
- Account Operations
Account holders are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of their account credentials, PIN, password, and any other security information. The Bank shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorised access to an account resulting from the account holder's failure to maintain the confidentiality of their credentials.
- Joint Accounts
Joint accounts are subject to the mode of operation agreed upon at the time of account opening — either/or survivor, former/survivor, or jointly. Any change to the mode of operation must be submitted in writing and signed by all account holders.
- Nomination
Account holders are strongly encouraged to register a nominee at the time of account opening. Nomination can be added, changed, or cancelled at any time during the life of the account by submitting the prescribed form at the Bank's branch.
- Eligibility
- Deposits & Withdrawals
- Deposits
All deposits made to the Bank are governed by the terms applicable to the specific deposit product — Savings Account, Current Account, Fixed Deposit, Recurring Deposit, or any other scheme. Interest rates applicable to deposits are subject to change at the Bank's discretion and in accordance with RBI guidelines. The rate applicable to a term deposit is locked at the time of booking and remains unchanged for the tenure of that deposit.
- Withdrawals
Withdrawals from savings and current accounts are subject to the minimum balance requirements and transaction limits prescribed by the Bank from time to time. Premature withdrawal of term deposits is permitted subject to applicable penal interest as per the Bank's prevailing policy.
- DICGC Insurance
Deposits held with Hindusthan Bank are insured under the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC) scheme up to a maximum of Rs. 5,00,000 per depositor per bank, as per the provisions of the DICGC Act. This insurance covers all deposits held across all branches of the Bank in the same capacity and right.
- Dormant Accounts
Accounts with no customer-initiated transactions for a period of 2 years will be classified as dormant in accordance with RBI guidelines. The Bank will notify account holders before classifying an account as dormant. Reactivation of a dormant account requires the account holder to visit the branch in person with valid identity proof.
- Deposits
- Loans & Credit Facilities
- Loan Eligibility & Sanction
All loan applications are subject to the Bank's credit assessment process, internal policies, and RBI guidelines. Submission of a loan application does not guarantee sanction. The Bank reserves the right to approve, modify, or reject any loan application at its sole discretion.
- Interest Rates & Charges
Interest rates applicable to loan products are communicated at the time of sanction and confirmed in the Loan Sanction Letter. Fixed rate loans are not subject to revision during the tenure. Floating rate loans, where offered, are subject to revision in accordance with the Bank's base rate or benchmark rate policy.
- Repayment
Borrowers are required to repay their loans in accordance with the repayment schedule confirmed in the Loan Agreement. Failure to make timely repayments may result in penal interest charges, adverse credit reporting, and recovery proceedings as permitted under applicable law.
- Prepayment
Prepayment or foreclosure of loans is permitted subject to the prepayment terms specified in the Loan Agreement. The Bank's prepayment policy is disclosed at the time of loan sanction and forms part of the Loan Agreement.
- Security & Collateral
Where a loan is secured by collateral — including but not limited to property, gold, government securities, or fixed deposits — the Bank holds a charge over the pledged asset until full and final repayment. The collateral is released and relevant documents returned upon complete settlement of the loan and all associated charges.
- Default & Recovery
In the event of default, the Bank reserves the right to initiate recovery proceedings including but not limited to invocation of security, legal action, and reporting to credit bureaus in accordance with RBI guidelines and applicable law.
- Loan Eligibility & Sanction
- Digital Banking & Online Services
- Availability
The Bank's digital banking services — including internet banking, mobile banking, NEFT, RTGS and IMPS — are provided as a convenience to customers. The Bank does not warrant uninterrupted or error-free availability of these services and shall not be liable for any loss arising from temporary unavailability due to maintenance, technical failure, or circumstances beyond the Bank's control.
- Security Responsibilities
Customers using digital banking services are responsible for maintaining the security of their login credentials, OTPs, PINs, and devices. The Bank will never ask for your password, OTP, or full card details through any communication channel. Any disclosure of such information to a third party is entirely at the customer's risk.
- Transaction Authentication
All digital transactions are authenticated through the Bank's prescribed security protocols. Once a transaction is authenticated and processed, it cannot be reversed except in accordance with the Bank's dispute resolution process and applicable RBI guidelines on failed and erroneous transactions.
- Fraudulent Transactions
Customers are required to report any suspected fraudulent transactions or unauthorised access to their accounts immediately by calling the Bank's helpline or visiting the nearest branch. The Bank's liability in cases of reported fraud is governed by RBI guidelines on customer liability in unauthorised electronic banking transactions.

Material changes to these Terms will be communicated through a prominent notice on the website and, where appropriate, through direct communication to registered customers. Your continued use of our website or services after the effective date of any amendment constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.
- Termination of Services
The Bank reserves the right to suspend, restrict, or terminate your access to any product, service, or digital platform at any time — with or without notice — in the following circumstances:
- Breach of these Terms or any product-specific terms
- Failure to comply with KYC or regulatory requirements
- Suspected fraudulent, illegal, or abusive activity
- Court order or direction from a regulatory authority
